Designing Circuits for LEDs

LED technology has taken gigantic strides at lightning speed since our technical pages were first crafted in the late 1990′s. The original information posted at this link pertained to 3 and 5mm through the hole LED’s. For most users, that information is no longer useful. Technology is in a stage of development where one tiny, high power LED is now able to produce a brighter and better quality light output than the earlier, massive arrays containing 96 or more through the hole LED’s.

Higher power LEDs require a number of other considerations, and one type of new generation LED will have different operating characteristics from another. Designing products with state of the art LED technology is now in the realm of Electrical Engineers, and many of the newer LED products are patent protected.
